Circles and words

For this card I started with the Paper Artsy Sentiment - I love this sentiment as it is too easy to get caught up in life and forget the little things, especially the little things that make you smile;)  I stamped this onto a white postcard using Archival Sepia, I then cur the sentiment out using spellbinders teardrop circles, I then used old paper distress ink to colour, leaving the die in place as I did so.

Then from a free paper with a magazine I used Marianne designs doily die to frame the original circle and then mounted the lot onto a 7Gypsies paper - the pad I have had since Adam was a boy I'm more than sure.

C - is for Celluloid

Well, I've actually done a Journal page, I've been itching to do one for months, but never had the courage just to crack on and do it, so this challenge has given me a subject to work to, which has helped with the starting point.

I got some really cheap Kraft journals from Sainsbury's earlier in the week (74p each to be precise!) so I got one out and primed the pages. I then used distress inks to create a kind of kaleidoscope background, it was at this point I realised I was sadly lacking in materials, no distress stains, no panpastels, very little in the way of acrylic paint; hey ho! But I did have a lot of stamps and varying types of ink pad and an array of colours in those, so most of my colour pallet would come from their.

I used Paper Artsy Stamps, Andy Skinner Stamps from Personal Immpressions and KaiserCraft Stamps for the images and Paper Artsy die to frame the word from the dictionary - as it was celluloid the film cel was most appropriate.

Not too shabby for a first attempt at journalling.

Sci Fi and Steampunk

I have always been in to Sci Fi, from being a little girl, Star Trek and Dr Who were regular viewing and the at the age of seven Star Wars was released and that was it, I was hooked for life.

There have been many developments in Sci Fi over the years, but the most recent "addition" to the genre is Steampunk.  The baic premis is - following the Martian invasion in War of the Worlds, the Victorians appropriate the technology and combine it with the technology of the day, so if you imagine steam powered computers with manual typewriter keyboards you'd be about there.

To tie in with this theme I recently discovered Viva-Las-Vegas Stamps, well, what can I say, I need to win the Euro-Millions when it's at stoopid money.  I need just about all the stamps they do, and then some!  Suffice to say I placed an order for stamp plate 909, as I could see this contained a tardis.  Well the results are below.

I also have hubby's birthday on Sunday so I had to do a hurried birthday card, so grabbed my KanBan stash and cobbled a Steampunk card together, and used the Do Crafts exclusive stamp (only available on the Creativity magazine) from their Chronology Collection.  This card although I'm very pleased with it has been re-purposed for Valentine's Day.  Luckily I hadn't used a Birthday Sentiment on it.

New arrival

One of hubby's work colleagues wife delivered a beautiful baby boy on the day before New Year's Eve and here is the card I made for them.

I started with the sizzix pram die, I then used  a Kars clear stamp for the baby boy image and sentiment, they are attached on the stamp so I did it as though he was peering over the top of the pram.  I used promarkers for colouring in and a brag for his dummy.  I backed a 5X5 inch square card blank with some blue swirly paper and added a ribbon to ground the pram.  I used a fabric sticker for the decoration on the pram.

Emergency Crafters DT - New years Resolution - Use something you've owned for over a year and haven't used yet

Come on, admit it, there are lots of things in your stash you have had for longer than you'd care to remember.  Those impulse buys that you have yet to find an excuse to use.

Well mine is the Marilyn stamp used in this journal cover page, oh and the Shabby chic background paper, but hey, who's counting!?????  In fact if I went through my stash properly I could probably find a thousand and one items that fit the bill.

I have combined it with a few items I got for Christmas as well as other stash items.  To find out what they are, you'll have to pop over to Emergency Crafters Challenge via the button on your left and have a read there.  You never know, you might be inspired to enter the challenge too.

2013 - The Year With Endless Opportunities

I know I haven't updated this for yonks, but part of the problem has been I have been so tired from "Keeping Up Appearances" at work.  I have been in a redeployment pool since August awaiting the redundancy cheque, as no jobs have been identified as suitable, I am to have the meeting that gives me the end date.  I have found this a rather difficult time if I'm honest and have not been able to find the energy to craft as much as I would like.  Now that cloud is lifting and I am here, and ready to go once again.

So below are a few DT pieces from the back end of last year to keep you going.
