Altered Eclectics DT Piece - Chunky ATC

I had never heard of Chunky ATCs until a friend on Twitter made one, She then very promptly sent me a RAK containing a blank block and 4 stoppers for the tops.

I started by basing this in Do Crafts Jumgle Green, then applying a coat of PaperArtsy Crackle Glaze and used Do crafts Sage on the top.  I then used PaperArtsy Tikka and chalk, I then used Do Crafts metallic Bronze to dry brush all over.

The images were all stamped in Black Stazon from various Tim Holtz stamp plates.

Altered Eclectics DT peice - Fleather topped box

For this box I started by playing with the Sheena Douglass - Faux Leather technique with a lump of Kraft card and some water and glycerin.

I used the finished product to cover a papier mache box lid.  I covered the rest of the box with Debbi Moore's Shabberdashery Midsummer Night's Dream paper, and topped it with a wooden key embellishment embossed with detail copper and a ribbon.

Altered Eclectics DT Piece - Borg pencil pot

For this I used a blank MDF man pencil pot - below

and based it in Chalk Fresco Finish with washes of Seaweed, Limelight and Chartreuse to get this finish.

I then used a Crafters Workshop subway stencil with Grunge Paste to get a circuit board feel.

Then I went a bit mental with the following frescos Inky Pool,Beach Hut, Seaweed and  Chartreuse.  Then traced a track all the way round the pot, to look like the hive mind communication system with Crawford and Black metallic Copper paint.

Altered Ecelectics DT Piece - Altered Letter Rack

This particular beauty has caused me lots of problems, when I bought it, it was a hideous orange colour which refused to be covered, so eventually I got there and this is the result.

I acheived this (finally) by gessoing the whole thing three times before using my PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints on, I started with Little Black Dress, followed by crackle glaze, then this was topped with Antarctic and left to work.  Once dry I washed Bora Bora over the top and finally coloured  Maimeri artist medium with Dusty Teal and used this through the Imagination Crafts Stencil Tropical Leaf.

Atered Eclectics DT Peice - Linda Cain Inspired Canvas

This canvas was inspired by Linda's on PaperArtsy Blog last night so this morning I got out the Grunge paste and the frame stencil and covered the whole thing.  I then went out for a little mooch around Crook and a lovely Brunch at Cafe J's (this bijou cafe is run by family friends and is highly recommended if you're ever in this neck of the woods).

Upon my return the stenciling was completely dry which allowed me to hit the paints.  I used a combination of Guacamole, Cheesecake, Haystack, Pumpkin Soup, Limelight and Chocolate Pudding Fresco Finish paints and the went over the stenciling with Renaissance Treasure Gold.  I then used Olive Archival to stamp the script background BG06.

The I stamped the medieval maid (Sheena Douglass stamp) onto water colour card and used my distress pens to colour her in. I then cut this out with an Oval die from XCut, and distressed the card so it wasn't bright white using Distress Inks. I then glued the picture into it's frame.

Altered Eclectics DT Piece - A little bird told me

I treated myself to this extremely expensive (99p) mini birdhouse from The Works whilst I was away in the Lakes recently, I based it with Mud Splat Fresco Finish Paint and dry brushed Nougat over the whole thing to "weather" it and highlighted the edges with Treasure Gold Renaissance.  Then I set to work on all the wooden embellishments bought at various times so I've no idea what came from where (in fact I think hubby got me some for filler birthday and Christmas gifts over the years).

I died the winged clock with Pumpkin Soup Fresco Finish as this is a Translucent paint so none of the detail was lost, I then embossed it with clear powder.  I used Chocolate pudding on the Home and the big bird, I then used Crackle Glaze and Stone on the Home (the crackle is quite small but it's there) and Treasure Gold Renaissance on teh big bird.

The swirl and the little bird on a twig I embossed, the swirl in Stampendous Detail Copper and the bird in Debbi Moore Metal Magic Blue Vein (not much of the blue showed up tho).

A little box - Altered Eclectics November DT piece

For this project I used a small lidded box, I based it in Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Little Black Dress, then covered with their crackle glaze, I then used Nougat to be the top coat, once this was dry and cracked, I sanded it back a bit further and added the traditional Decoupage flowers to the top/lid with IndigloBlu's Slap it on.

Altered Calendar - Altered Eclectics DT Piece

I had treated muself to an 8X8 standing desk calendar to create for myself for work, I didn't realise how many sides I would actually have to play with, it turns out there are 16, so a 16 month calendar it had to be.

This is month 1 or September, I used distress inks to make the background and utilised Dark Room Door and Eco Green Stamps to create the design, and used the Memory Box Penny Farthing die as an added embellishment.

A placemat that thinks it's a clock

This month's Altered Eclectics piece

For this project I used a "take" on a play along from PaperArtsy guest designer Darcy W, where we altered a coaster, but I decided to supersize it and use a cork table mat to make a clock.

Cork Place mat before

I sealed it with white gesso and then base coated in dark green acrylic paint, I then mixed Fresco Finish Guacamole with Kroma crackle medium and covered the whole thing, then left it all to dry, which took about 15 hours.  Once completely dry and crackled I used a combination of Indigo Blu and Graphic45 stamps to decorate.  I finished off by adding the clock mechanism and hands.

Mechanical Heart Canvas

Welcome to my first DT piece for Altered Eclectics

For this canvas I used acryilic paints, gloss and heavy medium paste, Splodge away masks, Wing and wire heart embellishments, Treasure Gold gilding wax and "refurbished" jewellery parts.  I hope you  like and feel inspired to try one of your own.  This is only my third canvas, and the fab part is, there are no rules.
