Old & New

This is my entry for the Letraset Blog challenge. The theme is Old and New. Using things from you stash which you have had for sometime, and using something that you have just bought or received!

So here is my card!

Paper is a teabag folding sheet from a searchpress book I've had about 3 years.

The Stamp is from Hunkydory and was a birthday present last week from my man!

Busy Bee

Here are some more of my cards. I've been a busy little bee!

*Flower seller*

This card again inspired because of my obsession with Audrey Hepburn and the fact that I wanted to play with some new stamps and glimmer mists to see if the end result would be any good or just a blobby mess. I think it doesn’t look too bad.

*Halloween*

This was an entry for a competition, at this stage I have no idea if I even got into the judging pile of 20 designers, but fingers crossed. I like it anyway.

*Hunky 1, Hunky 2 and Xmas Angel*

A selection of cards I used to try and get on hunky-dory design team, as you can probably tell by the way I have typed this, I was unsuccessful this time, but hey ho, try again next time.

*Marilyn*

This one was made for a lady at work, her friends mum was having a big birthday and is a huge Marilyn fan, I just love the red carpet effect on this one (which, I have to be honest, the OH helped with the placement to make it look like she was walking on it).

*Flower cart*

Again this one was a much about with new stamps (Sheena Douglass) with the Audrey theme, it was also a play with promarkers.

*Fairy*

This one was a twitter card hop attempt using a polkadoodles fairy but without the wings! The butterfly was my take on movement as it is on a dangly bit of card.

*Ford Anglia*

This one was done for my father in law for his birthday, my OH asked me do it as it was his dad’s first car.

*Penguin*

I just love these penguin toppers, to make it a bit different for me I added them an acetate backdrop that is foil printed with snowflakes.

*Saucy Xmas*

This one I just like because she is a cheeky Christmas elf, the stamp is from Debbi Moore and was part of my play with stamps day.

*Stall*

Sorry about the self promotion here, but this is a pic of my stall from Crook Carnival in July, I will post one of my stall from the Christmas Fair in a couple of weeks.

*Xmas Selection*

A few of the cards to go on sale at the fair.

*Senility Prayer*

Just a fun stamp, the sentiment I think says what we all would like to happen.

*Wish*

Just a very nice image of an angel, or for those of you who are in to Manga it could well be a character from the genre.

*Toppers and Toppers 2*

Some toppers I had a play with ready to go on cards, and yes they are still waiting for the right card to go on.

*Retirement, 2, 3 and Mothers day*

Some cards I was commissioned to make earlier this year for people at work.

The retirement cards are A3 and were done this size on purpose as about 70 people had to sign each one!

Welcome

Welcome to my blog, I want to share my projects and love for craft with you. Time to show you some of my cards.....!

*Betty Boop*

This one was made for a lady at work’s Mum.  She has been into Betty Boop for a number of years, and had a large birthday earlier this year.  The image is decoupaged with the addition of diamond sparkles to the chocolate box, shoe and bow.  This card is now in a frame in the recipients house.

*Comp entry 1*

Just a card I cobbled from some paper I was unlikely to use, with an image from a calendar bought for my new year present two years ago (we always buy each other a calendar for new years eve in our house).  I added in a page of sheet music and used a Clarity stamp Violin as a complimentary image as the lady from the calendar also has a violin.

*Comp entry 2*

This image is a twisted pyramage from Nancy Watt.  Just mounted onto a contrasting background.  I like the image because it reminds me of Audrey Hepburn at the Ascot races in “My Fair Lady”, so this was purely self indulgent.

*Baby Boy*

Self explanatory, lady my OH works with asked for this for a neighbour who had just had her first baby.  The image is from Kanban and I think is really evocative of the newborn baby having it’s first cuddle.

Next post I will show you some more. Hope you enjoy!

Introduction to Jacqui

I live in County Durham and am married to Andrew, I have two lovely daughters from a previous marriage. Previous hobbies were Cross Stitch, running the Terry Pratchett Fan Club which I handed over in 1997 as I was about to go back to work and having two young children found it difficult to fit in to the time available in a day.

Because I wanted speedy results with my crafting I turned to card making about three years ago.  starting out making Christmas cards for family and friends.  I then got completely hooked and have never looked back!

I have been a bit "tame" with my designs in the past, but sold a number of cards for a local Community Group I was a Trustee for, and have branched into Craft stalls at various fairs and fetes.

I am now becoming brave enough to re attempt stamping and some arty techniques which I hope to develop further next year.

I have been tweeting since 2009 but only sporadically til earlier this year and have met some wonderful crafty friends  - including the kind lady, Josie, who has developed this blog for me.  Follow me on Twitter @jax1369
